DESCRIPTION:THIS TRIP IS FULL – please email Brian to be put on a waiting list.\nDATE: May 10, 2025\nTIME: 7:30 am –  We will begin walking at 7:45 am.\nATTENDEES – Members and non-members are welcome\nMEET LOCATION: small parking lot accessed from West Main Street in Harvey, just 100 yards north of Smokehouse Brewpub.\nLEADER(s): Brian Murphy and others\nCONDITIONS: The trail features a combination of dirt, wood decking, asphalt, a little mud, uneven footing, and some shade. There are no bathrooms during the main walk.  Please bring water, a snack, sunscreen, and bug repellent. Wear sturdy shoes and rugged (LONG) pants. Please come prepared for the predicted weather.\nEQUIPMENT: binoculars (we have extra), cell phone(for using eBird and Merlin), ears, and eyes.\nPLAN: From the parking lot, we will hike the trail counter-clockwise and take the trail down a steep hill onto the boardwalk. We will head north along the Iron Ore Trail to Bayou Street. Next, we reverse direction and walk south to Lakewood Lane, then reverse back to the forest entrance to walk the trail through the woods. Then follow the boardwalk back to the parking lot. We can also decide to bird the boat ramp area.  Please do not play bird recordings. Please inform your guide if you leave early.  Important – Please review our birding guidelines.
