The Seney Wildlife Refuge Loonapalooza Jeopardy Game!

Novemebr 13 (Thursday), 2025

LOCATION: Peter White Public Library, Community Room

TIME: 7pm

The Seney National Wildlife Refuge is our neighboring 95,212-acre refuge in Schoolcraft County, Michigan near the town of Seney. The refuge contains the Seney Wilderness Area, the Strangmoor Bog National Natural Landmark, and the famous Whitefish Point Bird Observatory.

This past August, Steve Waller created a Seney Loonapalooza Jeopardy game for Seney’s 90th Anniversary Loonapalooza celebration. The game is packed with fascinating information about Seney loons, loon banding, and 25 years of research by Damon McCormick, Joe Kaplan, and Dani Fegan of Common Coast Research & Conservation. A short overview of Seney Refuge will be presented by 15-year veteran Seney National Park Ranger Jennifer Wycoff. The Jeopardy game will follow, hosted by Steve Waller, a Marquette area naturalist, environmental educator and Loonapalooza game creator.
Years ago, Jennifer Wycoff unknowingly started a career in “Parks & Recreation”, cleaning toilets at Indian Springs Metro Park.  The naturalists at that site, along with childhood experiences, family role models and a university mentor played strong roles in her choice to earn a B.S. in Outdoor Recreation from Northern Michigan University. She was fortunate to find her way back to the UP after seasonal job experiences with city, state, and national parks and then even more fortunate to eventually land a permanent seasonal position at Seney National Wildlife Refuge.
