Laughing Whitefish Bird Alliance

Bird Outings 2024

Coming soon, 2024 Outings and Field Trips.

These are held mostly on Saturdays and Sundays and are listed on our website and Facebook page. Depending on the time of year, we meet at 7:30 or 8:30 at the walk location. Visit our calendar for details. Our outings are designed to accommodate individuals, families, or small groups, and anyone from beginning birders to more advanced birders. Some outing sites will be handicap accessible; others may be over rougher terrain, narrow trails, or less accessible gravel paths. Please see the individual event descriptions in our calendar for accessibility information. Our volunteer bird outing leaders are experienced in knowing when and where to find the birds. And they are very good at teaching how to see, hear, and learn about birds. Moreover, many people find our bird outings are not only a fun and exciting time but are a wonderful social event, bringing together a diverse group with a common interest.

IMPORTANT – Before attending an LWAS Bird Outing, Field Trip, or Bird Count, please read the LWAS birding guidelines and birding ethics.
In addition, on the day of the event, all participants must complete a Release of Liability Form to participate. The form will cover all events for 2024, so complete it only once.

Walks usually last 3-4 hours. To help us predict attendance, please complete the registration form on the website for EACH outing. We will meet directly at the walk site. We do recommend carpooling for families or friend pods. New birders and birders of all skill levels are welcome. Please wear long pants, socks, and sturdy shoes (ticks and chiggers may be present). Frostbite, sun, and bug protection are also recommended. Bring snacks and water if you like. Heavy rain or snow will result in cancellation, but birding in poor weather can often be stellar. The outings are weather-dependent, and we will post cancellations on our Facebook page.
